Christians from all over the world travel to Israel to “walk in the footsteps of Jesus.” While traveling through the Galilee, they visit places like Nazareth, Capernaum, Chorazin, and the Sea of Galilee. Visiting the archaeological sites, however, still leaves tourists removed from the world of Jesus because the ruins date primarily to the Byzantine period (4th-6th centuries AD). Three sites exist within the Galilee and Golan that allow tourists to touch the first century world of Jesus, its archaeology, homes, and daily life. The sites are Yodfat, Magdala, and Gamla.
